343 Industries has announced today that a second beta for its upcoming Halo Wars 2 will take place a little later this month. The beta will be focussed exclusively on the new card-based game mode called ‘Blitz’.
The beta will run from January 20th through til January 27th, and players will be able to use all Faction Leaders and Blitz cards during the beta, so nothing that’s out on release day (February 21st) will be left out. Basically, you get to really have a good go at the new game mode without only having half the content.
The beta will include just one map though, and that’s the Proving Grounds arena that will allow 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 matchmaking on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, according to 343i’s blog post. Unfortunately none of the progress made during the beta will be carried over to the full release, though there are a couple of rewards for those who take some time to play the beta. For logging into the Blitz Beta you’ll get a card pack that can be used with Halo Wars 2 on release, and for completing a full game you’ll get another. Not too bad.
Halo Wars 2 will launch on Xbox One and Windows 10 this February 21st.
