It’s a sad day for Xbox 360 as Bungie has confirmed that support for Destiny on Microsoft’s old machine is being wound down to the bare minimum.
The developer recently confirmed that the new expansion that’s due out this year, Rise of Iron, won’t be getting a release on the Xbox 360. If you want to play Rise of Iron, the only way you’ll be able to do so is on a next-gen console.
That’s not the worst of it as Bungie has also confirmed that from August 2016, any and all updates and content releases for Destiny will only be available on Xbox One and PS4. But it gets worse.
In addition to be being left out of future content updates, Xbox 360 players are also going to be shunned away from Trials of Osiris, the Iron Banner, and all future live events. It’s a bummer for sure, but to be honest, we kind of saw this one coming; there’s only so much the developers can do with the creaking hardware so it’s best to focus all efforts on the current-gen version.
That’s not to say it’s a good thing, but we can at least see where Bungie is coming from.
