The first bit of major story DLC for Rise of the Tomb Raider lands in just two days. On January 26th, Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch will be available for purchase and download on the Xbox One & Xbox 360 stores. You can feast your eyes on the trailer below.
Promising “hours of gameplay,” Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch will tell the tale of Lara Croft’s expedition into a forbidden Siberian forest.
“[Baba Yaga] expands the story of the main campaign with Lara facing deadly new adversaries, exploring a new puzzle-filled tomb, and solving a decades old mystery, all culminating in a showdown with an ancient and mythic evil.”
You’ll be able to pick up the shiny new story expansion as part of a $29.99 season pass. It should also be available as an individual purchase, but details and pricing have yet to be announced.
After slow sales figures at launch, partly due to Xbox exclusivity and partly due to a poorly timed release date, Rise of the Tomb Raider proceeded to gather a ton of awards, nominations, and positive word of mouth. The result was a stunning December sales figure, with well over 1 million copies sold from launch to the end of 2015. Well deserved for one of the best games of the year.
Those sales numbers should get a sizable bump this year, as well. A mere two days after the release of the Baba Yaga story DLC, Rise of the Tomb Raider’s Xbox exclusivity will officially come to an end with the release of the PC version. You’ll be able to pick up the PC version for $59.99. The PS4 version is slated for a longer delay, however, and is looking at a Holiday 2016 release window.
Did you love Rise of the Tomb Raider as much as we did? Was it your hidden gem among giants like Fallout 4 and Black Ops III? And will you be picking up the Baba Yaga DLC? Let us know in the comments!
